Q:   I am having problems logging into the student website – who should I speak with?

A:   Claudius in Head Office will be happy to answer any queries you may have.  You can contact him on 01342 410505, or

Q:   I can’t find the documents I need on the student website – who should I speak with?

A:   Richard in Head Office will be happy to answer any queries you may have.  You can contact him on 01342 410505, or

Q:  When are lecture plans and dates available for the upcoming academic year?

A:  Head Office sets the dates for all courses centrally.  Lecture plans are made available on the student website in the summer before course fees are due, although a draft overview of dates can be obtained in the spring via Head Office.  Please keep checking the website or contact Head Office on 01342 410505 for further details.

Q:  How are clinics run for Nutrition and Naturopathy?

A:   Please visit www.cnmstudent.com and click on ‘Clinics’ – most of the information you need is located there.  The cost of running a clinic is shared amongst the students and the average cost is around £30 per day (for 8 clinic hours).  In the first year of Naturopathy specialist training or Nutrition, students observe the lecturer taking cases in a class environment.  Each casetaking is followed up with a discussion and worked through in class.  In the second year students start taking cases and are assessed by the Clinic Leader throughout the year to ensure competence in practice.  At the end of the second year students are confident in casetaking and have completed 10 cases (each one with a follow-up).  These are reviewed by the Clinic Leader and then submitted to the relevant professional body for registration.  Further information is available in the Clinic Handbook on the CNM student website.

Patients:  Students are required to volunteer as patients as part of their training.  Students are also required to source patients from outside the class to gain skills in building a practice, eg:

  • promoting the clinic to other students/classes and taking bookings
  • promoting the clinic to family and friends
  • distributing leaflets
  • promoting the clinics on the CNM website

Advice and support will be available from the CNM throughout this process.

Q:  What happens if I want to take a gap year?

A:   The CNM is unique in that students can have today’s course fees for the entire period of their study, provided that the agreed start dates for each class are adhered to.  Taking a gap year is fine from a study point of view, however the latest course fees will apply to the remainder of your training.

Q:  Finances: I have questions about my fees

A:  Lucy in Student Services will be happy to answer any questions you have about payments and fees.  She can be reached at Head Office on 01342 410505 or

Q:  I have questions about the accreditation process that the CNM is undertaking.  Is there any information available on this?

A:  Hermann is happy to answer any questions students have.  Please see Hermann’s updates from December 2005, and the Summer 2005 newsletter on the CNM student website, or contact him for further information:

Q:  Where can I find information about the structure and content of my course?

A: www.naturopathy-uk.com

  • Main menu > Courses > Nutrition Diploma
  • Main menu > Courses > Naturopathy Diploma

    www.cnmstudent.com

  • Main menu > General Docs – Student Handbook (learning outcomes are included)
  • Main menu > Study Docs (lecture plans, handouts and assignments are found here)

Q:  What happens if I miss a weekend?

A:  90% attendance is required, although we encourage students to attend all classes to get the best out of their training.  Please arrange to get copies of notes and handouts with another student in advance.  You also need to let your Director of Studies know that you will not be attending.

Visit the CNM student website for lecture plans and dates for all colleges. If you would like to attend at another college to ensure you don’t miss any weekends, please email the Local DOS well in advance to see if there are spaces and confirm that you would like to attend.

Q:  What happens if I am late or need to leave early?

A:  As per your Student Rules, in order to gain credit for attending a day of class, you need to be present from 10am to 6pm.  Exceptions are made for occasional and unavoidable circumstances, however lecturers are required to be strict on issuing attendance credit to ensure minimal disruption to other students and of course maximum learning from the course.

Q:  Assessments: when are assessments (assignments) due and where can I find them?

A:  These are available to download from the student website and includes information on when they are due. If they are late there is a £10 fee.

Q:  Exams: when do we know about results?

A:   Exams are returned to students by the lecturer or during term time, and by Head Office during the summer months.  Exams are usually returned within 4-6 weeks.

Q:   I have missed several weekends from Semester I of Medicine – what can I do?

A:    Summer school is offered in London.  Please check the CNM student website or contact Head Office on 01342 410505 for further details.

Q:   I would like to attend a weekend or event in London. Where can I stay and how shall I get there?

A:  www.thetrainline.com (travel) and www.yha.org.uk (accommodation) are excellent starting points.  Organic food is available at Planet Organic, just off Tottenham Court Road.

Q:  How do I sign up for clinics?

A:   Visit www.cnmstudent.com and sign up via the clinics register.  Payment is made to the student clinic organiser where a non-refundable deposit may be required in advance.

Q:  I have concerns about studying and/or keeping up with the course requirements – what should I do?

A:  Please contact your Director of Studies who will be happy to help and talk through your concerns.  It is also recommended that you visit the Student Forum chat room on the student website and make a friend in class to study with.

Q:  I have questions about the lecture material but feel shy about asking questions in class – what should I do?

A:  Please try to ask questions anyway – we encourage it, and several of your classmates are probably wondering about the same thing anyway.  Our lecturers are very friendly and helpful, so please feel free to approach them after class or on breaks.

If the information you require is not in the student handbook or the CNM student website, please do not hesitate to contact your Director of Studies or Head Office.  Queries submitted via email are preferred, or telephone can be used if your enquiry is urgent.
