- A student with special needs will have their initial situation assessed by the relevant Director of Studies at the point of the admissions assessment. The Director of Studies is responsible for reporting details of student special needs to Head Office for a ‘Special Needs Review’ which is conducted by the Principal, or a person nominated by the Principal.
- Each special needs case will be individually assessed to establish whether potential challenges can be resolved, e.g. physical entry and access to all teaching and cloakroom facilities.
- Where library or other secondary facilities do not provide easy access, or appropriate aids, alternative arrangements will be discussed with the aim of finding a workable solution.
- Where special facilities are required within the examination room, the student should submit their special needs assessment certificate to head office at least one month in prior to their first examination event.
- Students with any other specific requirements for the examination events (e.g. request for additional time for examinations) should submit their request to head office, together with evidence substantiating their request, at least one month prior to the exam. For details of substantiating evidence see QA Section D.
- A Student’s Special Needs Register is held at Head Office.
